Weekly Update 8/22-8/26

Alg 1-  We have had a very productive week!  Most of the week was spent on problem solving strategies.  We learned how to dissect word problems and take out the information that was given to us and put it in formulas to solve the problem.  Temperature, profit, and distance were the main focus.  Next week we will begin working with functions and how to graph them.  This will be new material so most of the work will be done here at school where I can help them with any questions that they have.

Geometry-  We are moving through chapter one.  This week we spent a lot of time working with the midpoint formula and the distance formula for points on a coordinate plane.  Next week we will start looking at the different classifications of angles.  We will also begin using protractors to measure angles.  I have all the supplies here so there is no need to go out and by a protractor.

Consumer Math-  We are learning a lot of new material that is going to be very beneficial to the students in the future.  Next week we will begin working on mortgages, interest rates, and bank accounts.  We are very fortunate to have a local bank coming in to discuss these topics with us.  This should be a very eye opening week!!
